Chilton Manor Farm is family owned & run, a mixed estate comprising arable land, cottages & historic farm buildings, both developed & undeveloped. It is committed to preserving the natural habitat & environment, is community-minded & outwardly focussed and seeks to further local partnerships and promote local business.
Chilton Manor has 440ha of arable that is contract farmed by our neighbours, Newhouse Farm Partnership, under the management of Andy Bason. The relationship is marked by a shared commitment to a number of regenerative farming practices that put soil health at the top of the agenda.
It provides a rich natural habitat for a wide variety of animals and insects and strives to maintain its biodiversity by focusing on environmental measures to complement crop production such as encouraging wild flower meadows and field margins. We’re delighted to be partnering with beekeeper Tim Hides, producing our own honey, which can be bought on site at the Yard cafe.
The farm provides a home for a flock of 70 mules & texels that graze on the permanent pasture, with lambing taking place in the spring.
Its woodlands provides a great place to explore, with school groups and the local community enjoying visits, camping & picnics.
The farmyard too provides a rich educational environment for children, and brings alive the story of how the food on their plate is grown.
We are a working farm that seeks to share its resources for others to enjoy.
